About The Event

ARARAT 5,137 — THE ULTIMATE SUMMIT EXPEDITION

7 Days | Turkey

Seven days. One legendary mountain. 5,137 metres.

Mount Ararat has always been more than a mountain. Rising dramatically above eastern Turkey, it has become one of the most iconic peaks of the region — surrounded by centuries of history, legends and stories.

This expedition takes you from the foothills of Ararat to its 5,137 m summit, combining progressive acclimatization, high-altitude camping and professional mountain support with an introduction to the remarkable culture and landscapes of the Ararat region.

This is not simply a summit attempt. It is the journey to Ararat.

DAY 1 — ARRIVAL IN DOĞUBEYAZIT

Welcome to the Ararat Region

Your adventure begins with a welcome at Ağrı, Iğdır or Van Airport.

From the airport, we transfer you directly to Doğubeyazıt, the gateway to Mount Ararat.

After check-in, enjoy time to rest, meet the expedition team and prepare for the days ahead.

Depending on your arrival time, we will have a detailed expedition briefing and equipment check.

Overnight: Hotel in Doğubeyazıt

DAY 2 — INTO THE MOUNTAINS

Doğubeyazıt → Çevirme Village → Base Camp | 3,200 m

After breakfast, we leave Doğubeyazıt and drive to Çevirme village at approximately 2,200 m.

Here, we leave the road behind and begin our trek toward Mount Ararat's Base Camp.

The trail gradually takes us higher through the mountain landscape, with increasingly impressive views of the surrounding region.

After approximately 4–5 hours of trekking, we reach Camp 1 at 3,200 m.

Settle into camp, enjoy a warm dinner and rest beneath the mountains.

Trekking: 4–5 hours

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & hot dinner

Overnight: Camp 1 — 3,200 m

DAY 3 — ACCLIMATIZATION DAY

Climb High. Return Low.

Today is dedicated to acclimatization — one of the most important parts of a successful high-altitude expedition.

After breakfast, we begin our ascent from 3,200 m toward 4,200 m.

The climb takes approximately 3–4 hours.

At altitude, we spend around 1–2 hours before descending back to Camp 1.

This gradual exposure to higher altitude allows the body to begin adapting before the summit attempt.

Back at camp, enjoy a hot meal, relax and prepare for the next stage.

Trekking: 3–4 hours uphill + descent

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & hot dinner

Overnight: Camp 1 — 3,200 m

DAY 4 — HIGH CAMP

Base Camp → High Camp | 4,200 m

After breakfast, we begin our ascent toward Camp 2 at 4,200 m.

The landscape becomes more rugged as we move deeper into the high mountains.

After approximately 3–4 hours of trekking, we arrive at High Camp.

The afternoon is dedicated to rest, hydration and preparation for the summit attempt.

Everything is prepared for an early start.

Tonight, we sleep high on Mount Ararat.

Trekking: 3–4 hours

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & hot dinner

Overnight: Camp 2 — 4,200 m

DAY 5 — SUMMIT DAY

5,137 METRES

The Moment You've Been Climbing Towards.

The day begins in the middle of the night.

Around 1:00–2:00 AM, we leave High Camp and begin our summit attempt.

Under the stars, we climb steadily into the darkness.

As dawn approaches, the landscape begins to reveal itself.

After approximately 5–7 hours of ascent, we aim to reach the summit of Mount Ararat at 5,137 m.

Take a breath.

Look around.

You are standing on Ararat.

After time at the summit, we begin our descent to Camp 2.

Following a short rest, meals and packing, we continue our descent toward Camp 1.

Trekking: approximately 5–7 hours ascent + descent

Meals: Lunch & hot dinner

Overnight: Camp 1 — 3,200 m

DAY 6 — DESCENT & THE LEGENDS OF ARARAT

From the Mountain to the Stories

After breakfast, we complete our descent to Çevirme village at approximately 2,200 m.

We then transfer back to Doğubeyazıt.

After several days in the mountains, enjoy a well-deserved shower and time to relax at the hotel.

But the Ararat story continues.

Ishak Pasha Palace

Visit the spectacular Ishak Pasha Palace, dramatically positioned above Doğubeyazıt and surrounded by the mountains of eastern Turkey.

Noah's Ark Area

Continue to the area associated with the legend of Noah's Ark, one of the stories that has made Mount Ararat famous far beyond the region.

In the evening, we celebrate the expedition together over dinner.

A small reminder of a very big achievement.

Overnight: Hotel in Doğubeyazıt

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

EXPEDITION LEVEL

Challenging / High Altitude

Mount Ararat is a serious high-altitude expedition reaching 5,137 m. Participants should be physically prepared for several consecutive days of trekking and camping at altitude.

Previous mountain trekking experience is strongly recommended.

The summit attempt depends on weather, mountain conditions, permits, route conditions and the decision of the expedition leadership. Reaching the summit cannot be guaranteed.

THE TERRAVIA WAY

At Terravia, we believe that an expedition is about more than reaching a summit.

It is about the people you meet, the landscapes you cross, the stories you hear and the moments you remember long after you return home.

We don't simply take you to Ararat. We take you into the story of the mountain.

Ararat carries a story far older than any trail.

According to the ancient story, this was where Noah's Ark came to rest after the great flood — and where a new chapter of human life was believed to begin. Imagine standing on the mountain that has carried that story for thousands of years.

The same mountain where, according to tradition, Noah stepped onto the land again, and humanity began again.
